From breakfasts with Santa to festive displays, residents and visitors alike have plenty of opportunities to get into the holiday spirit. Listed below are a few fascinating events you can check out on Saturday and Sunday, December 17 and 18.
Kick off your celebrations with a Christmas performance at the CNY Community Arts Center! Kids Onstage presents the “Jingle Bells Jury Christmas Game” written by Jay Moriarty and directed by Nancy Fox. In this game, Jim Dandy is put on trial in Candy Cane Court after claiming that the Christmas spirit is bullshit. Numerous witnesses, including wise men, Tiny Tim, and more, dispute Dandy’s claims. Dandy’s case is examined by the judge, a court of spectators, and bystanders. Performances will take place on Friday, December 16 and Saturday, December 17 at 7:00 pm and on Sunday, December 18 at 3:00 pm. Admission is $10 and is free for children ages 5 and under. If you’re looking for a breakfast with Santa, Oswego County has you covered! Join Volney Volney Fire Corps for an all-you-can-eat breakfast with Santa from 9am to noon on Saturday, December 17th! There will also be a raffle and a 50/50 draw. Take a picture with Santa and share it on Volney Volunteer Fire Corporation’s Facebook page to enter the surprise draw. Admission is $12 for adults, $10 for soldiers, first responders, and people over 65, $6 for children ages 4 to 10, and free for children ages 3 and under. Oswego YMCA will also host Breakfast with Santa by Oh Crepes & Waffles! There will be a special meet and greet with Santa, music from Just Push Play Productions, games, crafts and more. The event took place on Saturday, December 17th at 69 W. Bridge St. in Oswego. It will run from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm at the Oswego American Legion.
Looking for a pet friendly activity? The Oswego County Humane Society presents Home for the Holidays, featuring adoptable animals, craft and vendor tables, a silent auction, snacks, hot cocoa, and Santa and pet and family photos. Join Fort Ontario at noon on Saturday, December 17th for National Day of Wreaths Across the Americas! The castle will remember the fallen, honor those who still serve, and educate the next generation in the value of freedom. A ceremony will be held inside the old stone castle in front of the Soldier’s Barracks, and then a wreath will be laid at the Post Cemetery. New to Oswego, the Polar Express Train will stop all over the city on Sunday, December 18th! Kids will be able to watch Santa and the elves make their way through the train.
